The Iraqi flag at www.mnf-iraq.com
Three equal horizontal bands of red (top), white,(middle) and black (bottom) with the phrase ALLAHU AKBAR (God is Great) in green Arabic Kufic script in a horizontal line centered in the white band.
The flag was modified by the Iraqi Council of Representatives in January 2008 from a similar form that had three stars on all sides of “Allahu Akbar” which was said to have been scripted in Saddam Hussein’s handwriting. The stars were eliminated and script changed in 2008 to address the concerns of Iraqis that refused to fly a flag symbolizing the regime of Saddam Hussein.
Previous changes to the flag had been in January 1991 during the Persian Gulf Crisis when the script was added to the three stripes with three stars in the middle white stripe. The flag of Iraq is similar to: the flag of Syria, which has two stars but no script, Yemen, which has a plain white band, and Egypt, which has a gold Eagle of Saladin centered in the white band. The basic design is based upon the Arab Liberation colors.

U. S. Senate Global Poverty Act
Obama bill: $845 billion more for global poverty. Democrat sponsors act OK'd by Senate panel that would cost 0.7% of gross national product.
Obama’s Global Tax Proposal Up for Senate Vote: AIM Column, By Cliff Kincaid, February 12, 2008: "Jeffrey Sachs, who runs the U.N.'s 'Millennium Project," says that the U.N. plan to force the U.S. to pay 0.7 percent of GNP in increased foreign aid spending would add $65 billion a year to what the U.S. already spends. Over a 13-year period, from 2002, when the U.N.'s Financing for Development conference was held, to the target year of 2015, when the U.S. is expected to meet the "Millennium Development Goals," this amounts to $845 billion. And the only way to raise that kind of money, Sachs has written, is through a global tax, preferably on carbon-emitting fossil fuels.'"
Placed on Senate Calendar on April 24, 2008
S. 2433: Global Poverty Act of 2007:
"Last action: April 24, 2008: Placed on Senate Legislative Calendar under General Orders. Calendar 718... Sponsor: Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL)." |
Undoing America's Ethanol Mistake
By Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson
April 28, 2008
"The International Food Policy Research Institute estimates that biofuel production accounts for between one-quarter and one-third of the recent spike in global commodity prices... As a recent Time cover story pointed out, biofuel mandates increase greenhouse gasses and create incentives for global deforestation."

Gulf of Mexico saturated with oil?
Excerpt: "Earlier this year (2006), Cuba announced plans to hire the communist Chinese to drill for oil off Key West, Fla. The move was made possible by the 1977 agreement under President Jimmy Carter that created for Cuba an "Exclusive Economic Zone" extending from the western tip of Cuba to the north, virtually to Key West." |
