A staged Reading of
Rabbit Hole
By
David Lindsay-Abaire
The Brewster Theater Company will dramatize the impact of personal tragedy on one family in a staged reading of David Lindsay-Abaire’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play Rabbit Hole. Craftedwith an almost equal blend of humor and seriousness, the reading will be performed on May 17th at 8 pm at the Brewster Public Library.
Lauded by Variety as ‘an intensely emotional examination of grief, laced with wit…,’ the play charts the aftermath of a tragic accident that leaves a middle-aged couple to cope with the death of their toddler son.
The cast of 5 includes Carolyn Adams and Brian Fields both of Brewster as Becca and Howie Corbett, Diana Hird of Cold Spring as Izzy, Anne Hammond of Bedford Hills as Nat and Nic Anthony Calabro of the Bronx as Jason Willette.
The decision to mount David Lindsay-Abaire’s exquisite drama as BTC’s first staged reading was a natural one. Although the subject matter is serious, the BTC board voted unanimously for this play to be included in its season. Far from being a line of actors reading from a script, director Debbie Levin has a different vision for Rabbit Hole. ‘This is an extraordinarily powerful piece that doesn’t require a high degree of production value to deliver its message. What IS required is focused dedication on the part of the actors to understand, internalize and bring to life the complex and challenging characters in a compelling way…and this extraordinary cast is doing just that, digging deep to deliver true, intelligent and fully internalized performances.’
There is no charge for this production, however donations are gratefully accepted. Reservations are strongly recommended due to limited seating. To make reservations or for more information about the show, please go to www.brewstertheatercompany.org, or leave a message at 845-598-1621. |
