The Dover Dragons increased their season record to 9-2 overall with a convincing 25-13, 25-20, 25-22 victory over Poughkeepsie at home on September 30, 2008.

Coach Jen Fisher reported the Herald, “Sarah DeVries had 12 assists and three aces. Meaghan Somers had five kills and eight aces. Julia Chopay had seven kills, and Shevon Allen had four kills.”

Tashawna Averhart and Katelyn Mayr continues to dominate the net as middle hitters/blockers. Outside hitter/defender Katie Infantino contributed excellent defense and many effective hits. Libero Isabella Robisheaux was outstanding on defense and at the service line.

Cody Anderson played the third game at setter and did an outstanding job of setting up the hits for her teammates.

Fisher said of the status of the team early in the season, “Yes, Julia and Tashawna are hitting really well so far this year. We had a rough past few games, but we were really fired up yesterday to start a long week of games. We are currently 9-2. It feels very good to have so many wins, but we know that we have a lot of tough games to go.  We have Poughkeepsie on Wednesday, Haldane on Thursday, and Pawling on Friday, and we are excited to play against some strong competition.”
