“Anything Goes”
Regional Artists Show

Over 100 works of art by more than 25 regional artists will be for sale at Maplebrook School’s annual art show. “Anything Goes,” is the theme for this year, giving artists a wide berth to exercise their creative interpretations.  Beautiful, original framed oils, acrylics, watercolors and photography will be for sale. Additionally our “bin” sale will showcase unframed work by featured artists at reduced prices.

Local  artists’ work  includes watercolors by  Amanda Epstein, Joan Goller, and Susan Hennelly, drypoint and etchings by Roger McKee, oils by Alice McAdams, Erika Crofut  and Tarryl Gabel, pastels by Frank Munzer, and photographs by Millbrook artist Michael Spross.

The show opens on Friday, May 23rd with a reception featuring wine and hors d’oeuvres and dessert  from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Music accompaniment  will be by violinist June Conti and student pianist Jahkeem Watson.

Proceeds from the show benefit scholarships for the fine arts program and professional staff development at Maplebrook School. Over the years, our annual art shows and sales have raised over $300,000 to benefit Maplebrook.  The event incorporates our students as well, as they practice important life and social  skills  by assisting on the evening of our opening reception as wait staff,  parking directors and musicians.

According to Lori Hale, Director of Development at Maplebrook, “We are very pleased with the artist participation this year and the entries we have for the show. It promises to be a wonderful display of our regional artists and continues  our long standing tradition of providing a venue for artists and buyers alike.”

Three times a year Thalheimer Hall is transformed into an art gallery with a small show in November,  a student art exhibition in February and our annual art show in May.  The art shows enhances our student’s appreciation and exposure to the arts and artists.
