Rosemary M. Gamache, 81, a long-time resident of Pawling, passed away Tues., July 24, 2007 at Elant at Fishkill, Beacon, NY.


Born in New York City on Jan. 19, 1926, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mildred (Baldwin) Lynch. She graduated from Misercordia School of Nursing, Manhattan, NY as a registered nurse, and was the attendance officer at Pawling Central School during the 1970’s and the school nurse at the during 1983-84.

With her husband, Robert, she owned and operated Bob’s Liquor Store in Pawling for many years. He predeceased her in 1998.

Mrs. Gamache was a member of St. John’s Church, the Alter Rosary Society, a 50 year member of St. John’s Catholic Daughters, and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Pawling Fire Department Auxiliary and the Pawling Grange. She had many interests, but the most important things in her life were her family and church.

Mrs. Gamache is survived by two sons, Robert Jr.and his wife Lynda of Elizabethton, TN and David Gamache of Pawling; her daughter, Faith Knight and her husband Charles of Wappingers Falls; and grandchildren Charles Knight, Jr of Wappingers Falls, Eric Roy and his wife Julie of Auburn, WA, Jason Roy and his wife Colleen of Chicago, IL, and Michelle Chamlin and her husband Jeffrey of Johnson City, TN. In addition to her husband, she is predeceased by her brother Joseph.

Friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, Fri. 2-4 and 7-9 PM.

The Catholic Daughters will conduct a service Fri. at 2 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John’s Church, Pawling Sat, July 28th at 11 AM. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Pawling.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to either St. John’s Church, Pawling or the Academy of Mount Saint Ursula, 303 Bedford Park Blvd., Bronx, NY 10458.
