Gladys Jefferds, 100, a resident of Pawling for many years, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Geer Nursing & Rehab Center, Cannan, CT.
  
A sixth grade teacher for the Pawling Central School District before her retirement, she was born in Sharon, CT on October 3, 1907, the daughter of Edson C. and Theresa (Garbaden) Pitcher, and wife of the late Milton Jefferds, who taught eighth grade in the Pawling Central School District. Mrs. Jefferds was a member of the N.Y.S. Retired Teachers Association, the Pawling Garden Club, and the Shakespeare Club.
  
Mrs. Jefferds is survived by a sister, Mildred Dower of Sacramento, CA; four nieces, Carol Bernhard of Wilton, CT, Phyllis Dower of Winsted, CT, and Helena Bennett and Cynthia LeClerc, both of Sacramento, CA; and two nephews, Thomas Speedling of Jacksonville, FL and Ronald Speedling of Pinehurst, NC.
  
Friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling Saturday, April 5th 9-10:30 AM, with the funeral at the funeral home at 11 AM.  Burial follows at Pawling Cemetery, Pawling.
