Phyllis B. Ramsay, of Pawling, NY passed away on September 9, 2007 at home after an extended illness. Phyllis was born on October 4, 1954 to Lydia S. and Alan D. Ramsay at St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains, NY. She graduated from White Plains High School, attended Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY and received a baccalaureate degree from the State University of New York at Brockport. Phyllis was a life long resident of White Plains until she moved to Pawling, NY in 2004.
Phyllis was a self employed antique dealer in partnership with her mother for over thirty years, the last eighteen at the Pawling Antique Center. Phyllis was also active in community activities, most notably the Pawling Free Library, and she was an avid baseball fan and devoted advocate for organ donations.
Phyllis was predeceased by her father, Alan D. Ramsay, her brother, Austin C. Ramsay, and numerous aunts and uncles. She is survived by her mother, Lydia, of Pawling, NY, her brother Christopher (wife Barbara) of Belton, MO, her brother Douglas (wife Judy) of White Plains, NY, three nephews, Alan, Jeffrey and Gregory Ramsay, one niece, Megan Ramsay, her cousins Andrea Hall, Sunshine Frateschi and David Fitts, and numerous other cousins, friends, neighbors and business acquaintances, all of whom will miss her enduring spirit and optimistic outlook on life.
The family will receive friends and neighbors at the Horn & Thomes Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling, NY on Wednesday, September 12th from 7 to 9 PM. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, September 13th at 11:30 AM.
The family requests that in accordance with Phyllis’ wishes, memorial contributions be made in her name to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
