Pawling fought Dover for 80 minutes in search of the first Tiger win of the season, but one goal by the Dragons sunk the Tiger chances.

Eric Fisher and the Pawling defense played an outstanding game. Aided by the midfielders and forwards dropping back to help, the Tigers allowed just one Dragon goal, and certainly played well enough to win.

Eric Merling, Shaun Marshall and the rest of the Dover defense pitched the shutout, keeping Dover in a position to win long enough to get the game-winning goal.

Hunter Marshall scored the Dover goal came midway through the second half. Scott Garcia took the throw-in from the right side and sent the ball in a high arc all the way to the center of the field and to about the 20-yard line. Marshall saw the ball take one bounce in a crowd, giving him time to get settled and squared up and his feet set, and he rocketed the shot high and just under the ball where it absolutely could not be defended.

Coach Keith Yungel’s varsity roster: Eric Fischer, Malcolm Evans, Jiovanni Garcia, Kyle Dakin, Julian Kowalczyk, Chris Boyle, Josh Paugh, Brian Schurr, Dave Piazza and Alex Chiera and midfielders Dylan Simonetti, Stephen Simonetti, Joe Barthen, Gary D’Aguila, Daniel Epstein and Roman Miranda.
