First home match: Monday, September 10 at 4:15 p.m. at home at Lakeside Park in Pawling.
Veteran varsity tennis players Sara Yurt, Katie Rosaschi, Kristen McNamara, Jenny Sosiewicz, Katie Demetri, Courtney Sypher and Devon Gulbrandsen will be joined by Sarah Gulbrandsen and Christine O'Neill are working with new coach Ray Konchalski to get the winning tradition started this year.
"We have a lot of talent out here," said Konchalski. "These kids are working very hard, and they are making improvement every day. I am very pleased with what I see, and while I have not seen the competition, I have every reason to believe that we will do well."
When Konchalski spoke with the Herald last week, he had not yet set his lineup for the first match on September.
In high school tennis in each match, there are three singles matches and two doubles matches. No player plays in more than one match, so there are seven players from each team in each match.
Scoring is one point for each match, for a total of seven points from the singles and the doubles.
Practice with Konchalski is a activity of constant motion, where every player gets a wealth of shots in each practice. He is beginning with basics, with ground strokes and serves. His drills have the girls running through the entire practice, so the conditioning is accomplished by that constant motion.
