The Community Resources & Service Center is truly the “Heart of Pawling”, being the agency through which residents can reach out and help seniors and families in the community who are facing special challenges and hardships.
For the winter holidays, the “Adopt-A-Family” program at the Resource Center is the way for the community to provide holiday cheer for local families who are facing challenging times.
The Resource Center identifies those families and makes it possible for community individuals, families, organizations and companies to “adopt” an entire family and provide them with a full holiday season of food and gifts.
Without giving the name of the family, the Resources Center will provide the ages of the children and adults in the family so that appropriate gifts may be selected and purchased.
The adopting family or company may purchase the full menu for the holiday dinner, including a frozen turkey and all of the traditional foods of the season, and also provide gifts for all members of the family, as they will be given the ages of all the members of the family in order to select appropriate gifts. The staff and volunteers at the Resource Center will then see that the family receives this incredible gift of holiday cheer.
Residents, Scout Troops, businesses and others who wish to participate in “Adopt-A-Family” may also sign up to contribute part of the provisions, the gifts or the food, with the Resource Center coordinating the remainder to make up the whole.
This is a wonderful opportunity to experience the blessing of giving during the holidays.
Financial donations are also welcome.
